This past weekend we camped in the Moosalamoo region of Vermont's Green Mountains. Nathan, again, was a champ with adapting to the changes of being on the road, in the woods, and sleeping/napping in a tent. There were scattered showers and thunder storms throughout the weekend but nothing that slowed down the fun. We've found hiking in the rain (light rain, that is) to be quite enjoyable and offers a slice of nature that we all often miss because we're usually trying to get in out of the rain! Our new tents screened front porch made for an excellent perch to sit experience the storm. On our fist day we arrived just in time to set up camp, start a fire, and then catch a quick sunset swim in the lake adjacent to our campsite.

Home away from home
The campground was filled with these delightful little critters who were always dashing from here to there, scavenging for food, chattering back & forth to each other, and tormenting Mia...
and in times like these they wasted no time in charging into the campsite as if ever expecting to find something exotic to eat!
There were several hiking trails in the vicinity of our campsite which allowed for great excursions and beautiful sights without having to disrupt Nathan's normal nap schedule (we've found that although he will often be able to get to sleep whilst riding in the hiking backpack, those naps are no substitute for ones in the bed/tent). Well slept = happy baby. Here I am standing on a narrow spine of rock that protruded from the ledge forming a gorge that connected two tiers of pools.
The Green Mountains were aptly named. They're lush (and green) and densely canopied with an under story that's riddled with streams and coverd in moss, mushrooms, and lichens

and we even found this nice little lunch spot... they had outdoor seating, a great view, and even allowed pets!
and if we ever get lost, we just ask Nathan and he points the way!

the camping with a baby is so inspiring! while i will still enjoy these upcoming early months with our impending bambino, i am really looking forward to this stage! how fun!
These are such great photos! I told my mom about your trip and she wanted to see your blog. She used to live in Vermont and says it's one of her favorite places in the country. I can see why- it's a beautiful place! ~Jen
What a beautiful and fun trip. I love the picture of Dawn! These little guys are pretty quick with stuff in their mouths but eventually they get more excited by the other stuff outside and move on. I used to spend our whole time at the playground taking sticks away from Morgan, very tedious. Your pictures and your commentary almost make me want to go camping! Great job.
